The Portes du
Soleil Mountain Bike Tour
The 80km of trails of the 'Tour des Portes du Soleil' are
made up of 85% downhill, 15% flat and 5% uphill, and are accessed by 23
lifts running every day from 30th June to 2nd September. This incredible
trek between Valais and the Vallée d'Aulps is recognised by the FFC (Fédération
Française de Cyclisme). On the Swiss sections the route is marked by the
Touring Club Suisse. The downhill courses are classed as red runs (for
experienced riders), but there are many blue routes in the 12 resorts
of the Portes du Soleil where you can practice in safety. Thanks to the
lift system, it is possible to complete the 'Tour des Portes du Soleil
' in a day and have an amazing time! Why not spread the tour over two
days if you prefer to take your time and admire the countryside, accompanied
by the relaxing sound of cowbells and enjoy a picnic lunch on the grass
or eat at one of the many refuges along the way.

Mountain Bike
"Passeportes"
As a result of the growing popularity of the Free Raid
mountain bike event held in previous years, the Portes du Soleil has made
the course available to visitors around the area, with six checkpoints
along the way and a certificate if you complete the course! You can sign
up at any of the Portes du Soleil tourist offices or local sports shops
(120FF, 18.29 or 30CHF, lift pass included) and you get a Portes
du Soleil mountain bike map and a book to be stamped at each checkpoint.
Whether by yourself, or with family or friends, 'Passeportes' is
a great outdoors challenge and an adventure for anyone who enjoys open
spaces.
