Our
Outdoor Activity programme offers students an exciting range of adrenaline
rushing activities in a controlled and safe environment. In addition to
the specific skills and techniques required to survive the course we aim
to improve participants skills and awareness in a number of key
areas identified as follows:
- Self Reliance
- Leadership Skills
- Group dynamics, Team Building
Skills, Trust and confidence in others.
- Awareness of the Environment.
- Awareness of Fitness/Health/Stamina.
We have selected the activities featured in the programme
on the basis that each activity will develop one or more of the above
"life" skills.
The Activities
All the activity centres used are located
within a short distance of Morgins and group sizes are kept as small as
possible. As already mentioned each activity will help to improve the students
skills as we have highlighted below:
Rafting
A successful descent of the river is totally reliant on effective teamwork.
Everyone has to pull together in order to avoid getting wet and courage
is put to the test on the "big rock jump".
Climbing
The site at the Pas de lOurs has something for everyone,
from beginners through to advanced climbers. Students will work in pairs,
each taking a turn in ensuring the safety of the other. An extremely effective
exercise in building trust and confidence in others.
Hiking
The 2 day hike with an overnight stay in a high altitude
mountain refuge tests fitness and stamina. The success of the trip depends
on a cohesive, sympathetic group which can support individual strengths
and weaknesses.
Mountain
Biking
A morning "initiation" to perfect a few VTT skills
before a 3 hour mountain trail in the afternoon. An excellent test of
fitness, stamina and co-ordination.
Scavenger Hunt
Great development of team building, leadership skills and
individual initiative.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The programme has an overall structure and it is recommended
that all participating students take part in all the activities in order
to gain full benefit from the experience. All participants should have
a reasonable level of fitness and should be able to swim. The activities
offered in the programme are run by professional organisations based in
either France or Switzerland. The instructors will speak English and all
are qualified to Swiss or European safety regulations. Should you need
them, copies of instructors and organisations certificates of safety and
achievement can be sent to you.
