In creating the French
Language course we have tried to fulfil five major aims and objectives:
- To improve communication skills in another language.
- To reinforce and develop knowledge gained in the classroom.
- To allow students to gain confidence in a second language.
- To demonstrate that French is a living language which
is fun to learn.
- To understand basic cultural differences between England
and
- France/Switzerland.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
French lessons take place five mornings per week in a relaxed,
informal atmosphere and are lead by our own teachers who are local to
the area. The programme is carefully structured to meet the needs and
requirements of the GCSE and A level public examinations system.
Courses can be tailored to suit your schools individual requirements
but our standard programme includes topics such as: Leisure and hobbies;
Travel; Shopping; Restaurants; Hotels; Towns and villages - situations
in which students find themselves in real life. Course work is supplemented
with a visit to a local market and a scavenger hunt in Lausanne where
students can interview (and photograph) the indigenous population! Sports,
such as football, basketball and netball are organised with one of the
"colonie de vacance" in Morgins - mixed teams encourage instant
communication, especially if you happen to be on the winning side!
Tailor-made A-level courses are available with a combination of visits,
lectures and seminars. Two days within the week are usually set aside
for some "work/language experience" where students are given
the opportunity to work in a local business.
To supplement the language programme, we offer a wide range of sports
and activities many of which are designed to encourage team-work and develop
leadership skills. We also offer two excursions per week (one full day
and one half day) to a variety of places of interest in Switzerland and
France.
